Welcome to our policy nutshell where we will bring you bite-size pieces of useful informaton about the changing landscape for health and social care with a community,  patient and service user/carer engagement flavour. We have already posted up links to a load of interesting and relevant documents (click on the ‘how to …’ tab at the top) and will continue to do so,  alongside regular blogging about what is happening here and now.

In ‘the latest’, we plan to highlight useful good practice, policy requirements and practical resources  and tools which are included in a wide range of documents. We will explore the links between effective community,  patient and service user/carer engagement and some of the current national policy drivers and guidance. This will include: Joint Strategic Needs Assessments,  Health & Wellbeing Boards,  Joint Health & Wellbeing Strategies,  Clinical Commissioning Groups,  Integrated  Health & Social Care,  Local Authority Commissioning,  Public Health  transition,  tackling health inequalities, the development of HealthWatch   – and that’s just for starters!

The policy nutshell is all about grabbing national policies to do with health and social care, hunting around for the bits that impact on community engagement and putting them out for the world to see, alongside other interesting bits and pieces. The intention is to help those of you who have a passion for ensuring that community influence, rights and empowerment find every available ‘in’ to the ever changing world of health & social care. Here we precis policy and make links with the world of community development. If you spot anything then send it to us! policynutshell@changesuk.net

    Hi again

It might be worth keeping an eye on the New Local Government Network site (http://www.nlgn.org.uk/public/) which includes publications on Health and Social Care (http://www.nlgn.org.uk/public/section/subject/health-and-social-care/).
